What makes The Velvet Ember candles different?
Our candles are crafted in small batches, with a focus on quality and sustainability. Each candle is poured into a reusable, hand-crafted vessel made from either eco-ceramic materials or from cement composite, ensuring strength and low VOC emissions. We select complex scents and unique, earth-inspired designs that add sophistication to any space.
How are The Velvet Ember candles made?
Each candle is poured by hand in small batches. Our production process emphasizes sustainable practices, starting with a proprietary natural wax and fragrance oil blend. We triple seal all of our vessels which makes them food grade. We take pride in creating candles that are beautiful, luxurious, and environmentally responsible.
Are the vessels reusable?
Absolutely! Our vessels are designed to be repurposed. Once your candle has burned through, the vessel can be cleaned and used as a decorative piece, storage container, or small planter.
What materials do you use?
We prioritize natural, earth-safe materials. Our vessels are crafted from both eco-ceramic and composite cement, while our candles are made with clean-burning, natural wax and non-toxic wicks.Candle Care
How should I care for my candle?
To ensure the best burn, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use, and allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel on the first burn. This will usually happen at about the 2 hour mark so plan to keep your candle lit for 2 to 3 hours. This will prevent tunneling and ensure an even burn. Avoid drafts and allow the wax to cool completely before relighting when the flame is extinquished.
What should I do when my candle is nearly finished?
Once about 1/3 inch of wax remains, it’s best to stop burning the candle for safety and to protect the finish of the vessel. When you are certain you are on the last burn of the candle, you can remove the remaining wax on the last burn by dumping the remaining molten wax into a wax melt warmer. A wax warmer uses either a tealight candle or they also come in electronic form. Adding candle wax to this warmer will allow the wax to release scent into the air so you don't have to waste any wax!
Can I clean out my vessel and use it for something else?
Same as above; as soon as you are certain you are on the last burn of the candle, you can put the wax into a wax burner (the kind that use tea lights to warm wax) for continued enjoyment or, you can simply empty the heated wax into a trash can after extinguishing the flame on the last burn. Let it cool a little as not to burn yourself on a hot vessel but while it's still warm enough that the adhiesive on the wick tabs comes off. Gently remove the wick tabs from the bottom of the vessel with some paper towels (don't burn yourself it it's hot still). You can then wipe out the vessel the rest of the way with a paper towel. Lastly, you can add a small amount of vegetable oil to the vessel and wipe it a little more to help remove the remaining wax residue. (fun fact: a little vegetable oil on a piece of furniture or countertop can break down wax so it can be removed easier!) Add some dish soap and warm water after that and you should have a clean vessel ready for display or to store your favorite items.

We strive to ensure your order arrives in perfect condition. However, if your candle arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order, and we’ll work with you to resolve the issue.
